Man Killed In Second Hit-Run In 24 Hours For Bergen County: Prosecutor

A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Bergen County on Friday night, Oct 11 — the county's second fatal hit-and-run involving a pedestrian in 24 hours.

The man was struck on Godwin Avenue near Witte Drive in Midland Park just before 7:10 p.m., Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

He was rushed to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center with serious injuries where he was ultimately pronounced dead.

On Thursday night, Oct. 10, George Arnold was killed at the intersection of Ridge Road and Milton Avenue in Lyndhurst. He was a cook at the popular Route 17 restaurant Steve's Sizzling Steaks.

Friday's investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Midland Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael Powderley.
